Thank you for taking the time to learn a bit about my background. I hope the information listed here will help you when choosing a new Counselor. I gained my Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from the University of St. Francis in May 2006. I continued my academic journey at the Adler School of Professional Psychology in Chicago, Illinois. While at Adler, I earned my Master’s degree in Counseling Psychology (2009) and a Doctorate in Clinical Psychology (2013). I have over a decade of clinical training through various internships, academic preparation, and work experience in different treatment settings that include juvenile detention, community mental health, university counseling, inpatient psychiatric care, and private practice. Currently, I am providing individual and family therapy, under the supervision of Yaneisha G. Lozano, LCPC, LMHC, CCMHC, LPC, NCC.
I assist clients in dealing with difficulties adjusting, grief, loss, depression, anxiety, relationship conflicts, behavioral, and emotional issues. I particularly enjoy working with female clients, ages 13 to 26, who are experiencing difficulties with self-esteem, peer pressure, bullying, school, social challenges, transitioning from high school to college, problems adjusting to life changes, body image, and relationships. I am also passionate about working with women who are overwhelmed with emotional distress and are struggling to balance career and family responsibilities. Men process and show emotions differently; I believe they can be misunderstood when they are dealing with depression and anxiety. For this reason, I appreciate collaborating with men facing problems that involve infidelity, difficulties expressing their feelings, effective communication in relationships, work-life balance, and parenting stressors.
My life’s work is about connecting with individuals and helping them towards the pathway of healing and adjusting in a more healthy matter. I take pleasure in building a therapeutic working relationship with my clients to foster emotional, spiritual, intellectual, and personal growth. I believe these goals lead to greater control over one’s emotions, thoughts, self-understanding, and personal growth. If you would like to begin this journey with me, please call or email me to schedule an appointment. I can be reached by email using email@example.com or by calling our office, 815-725-1301. I accept Blue Cross Blue Shield PPO and Aetna. I look forward to meeting you soon.
